This week I hopped up to Portland for a board retreat for Basic Rights, and being a bit out of the city was a nice break. I can’t say I recommend eastern Oregon, but the retreat spot was chill. Driving through the curvy roads on my way to the event, I thought a lot about touge racing.
The Drift King, Keichi Tsuchiya is so fun to watch drive. When I was in high school, we’d import Best Motoring videos, and try to perfect our terrible drifting techniques when possible. If you’ve never seen drifting before, or the hill climbs of touge, I recommend both.
Folks at work have talked up the new Amazon show The Boys, but I can’t imagine it beating the excellent No Heroics. Superheroes are ripe for satire, especially in the age of the big Hollywood Marvel films.
If you’ve read my blog before, it won’t surprise you that I enjoy gear, and packing lists. Craig Mod’s new newsletter about his hiking gear was super interesting. I definitely pack differently than he does, but I appreciate his thoughtfulness.
This week there’s a big Sonos announcement, and as an avid fan, I’m stoked! The slow-news summer in tech is almost over, and there’s a lot of wild stuff coming soon. Enjoy the rest of August~
