Long week! I watched a lot of movies, didn’t sleep enough, and test-drove my new bag. This week I had two picnics at work, so Summer is in full swing. The days are getting a bit shorter, but it’s still pleasantly warm in the bay. I hope you enjoy the last bits of summer too. And now, my beach reads:
My friend Matt works from home. He’s been doing so for quite some time, and I found these tips and reflections super interesting as someone who worked from home for four years or so.
I’m really excited to return to Tokyo soon, and these rad drawings of storefronts made me smile.
Speaking of Japan: Ryu Murakami imagined a world in which North Korea took over Fukuoka, and a gang of social-reject youths decide to fight back. This book is also about the failure of bureaucracy, and a critique of the government. Word of warning: it’s graphic, and a bit brutal.
If you enjoy cartoons, especially ones like Summer Camp Island, Adventure Time, or Over the Garden Wall, you’ll likely enjoy Infinity Train. It’s a fun show about a girl, a dog, and a robot traveling through a Snowpiercer-esque train.
Finally, I leave you with this delightful anthem from a bygone era. I fondly remember when Radio Shack was one of the coolest places I’d ever been to—a place full of possibilities and experiments to come. RIP.
